Walkley Book Award 2024 shortlist announced

The Walkley Foundation has announced the finalists for the 69th annual Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism.
The works shortlisted for the Walkley Book Award, chosen from a longlist of nine, are:
- Nuked: The Submarine Fiasco that Sank Australia’s Sovereignty (Andrew Fowler, MUP)
- Slick: Australia’s Toxic Relationship with Big Oil (Royce Kurmelovs, UQP)
- Crimes of the Cross: The Anglican Paedophile Network of Newcastle, Its Protectors and the Man Who Fought for Justice (Anne Manne, Black Inc.).
The Walkley Book Award celebrates ‘Australian writers who take enduring subjects from news, eyewitness accounts, investigations and history’ bringing ‘immersive detail, clear analysis and new revelations’.
The winners will be announced on 19 November at the Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism event in Sydney.
