ByteDance publishing imprint announces first books
TikTok’s parent company ByteDance has announced it will start selling print books in bookshops from early 2025, under its publishing imprint 8th note press, reports the Bookseller.
ByteDance filed a US trademark application for 8th Note Press and began approaching authors last year.
The Bookseller reports the company will ‘work in partnership with Zando to publish print editions and sell copies in physical bookstores starting early 2025’, with an initial offering of six titles across genres including romance, romantasy, contemporary fiction and YA, which ByteDance said had proved popular with millennial and Gen Z readers. The imprint said it would be distributing both online and in brick-and-mortar retailers in the US.
The books are On Screen & Off Again (Caitlin Cross, February), The Last Man in Paradise (Syed M Masood, March), To Have and Have More (Sanibel, April), Love to Hate You (Marina Adair, April), The Lost Saint (Rachael Craw, May) and Learning to Fall (Peach Morris, May).
