‘Supremacy’ wins 2024 FT Business Book of the Year
In the UK, Supremacy: AI, ChatGPT and the Race That Will Change the World (Parmy Olson, St Martin’s Press) has won the 2024 Financial Times (FT) Business Book of the Year award.
Supremacy is the behind-the-scenes story of the personal and commercial battle to establish dominance in artificial intelligence.
Said FT editor and chair of the judges Roula Khalaf: ‘In her deeply reported account, Parmy Olson brilliantly frames the development of artificial intelligence as a thrilling race to master the technology, build a business, and dominate the technological future.’
Olson’s book was chosen from a shortlist of six announced earlier this year.
First presented in 2005, the award recognises a book that provides ‘the most compelling and enjoyable’ insight into modern business issues. The winner receives £30,000 (A$60,042) and each of the remaining shortlisted authors receives £10,000 (A$20,014).
The winner of last year’s award was Right Kind of Wrong: Why Learning to Fail Can Teach Us to Thrive (Amy Edmondson, Cornerstone Press).
