Australian editors, illustrators among Hugo finalists
Two Australian editors and two Australian illustrators are among the 2025 Hugo Award finalists.
Perth-based editor and podcaster Jonathan Strahan is nominated for two awards – Best Editor Short Form and Best Fancast (the latter with Gary K Wolfe, for The Coode Street Podcast).
Meanwhile, London-based Australian editor David Thomas Moore is nominated for Best Editor Long Form.
In the Best Professional Artist category, both Melbourne-based illustrator and artist Rovina Cai and London-based Australian designer and illustrator Micaela Alcaino are nominated.
The Hugo Awards are presented annually for ‘excellence in the field of science fiction and fantasy’ and are run by and voted on by fans. The winners across the 21 categories will be announced as part of World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon) on 16 August.
Finalists across all categories – and more information about the Hugo Awards – is available on the Hugo website.
