Welcome to the October issue of Books+Publishing’s monthly Independent Publishing newsletter.
The Small Press Network is hosting its annual Independent Publishing Conference at the Wheeler Centre in Melbourne on 24–26 November.
Of particular interest to Independent Publishing readers is the workshop day on Saturday, 26 November. All events are also streamed online so you don’t need to be in Melbourne to join in, but if you are in town, the Independent Publishing Conference is also a great opportunity to meet and talk with other self-published authors and small publishers. More information about the program is below, however I want to highlight here that Independent Publishing readers can get 10% off their Independent Publishing Conference tickets using the code IPNS10 at checkout.
Below you’ll also find news about another upcoming event—Book Fair Australia—which is being held in Sydney from 26–27 November. I had a chat with founder and author Ivana Truglio about her plans for the event and what authors can expect from the inaugural fair.
There’s also a round-up of the latest news and a Q&A with women’s fiction and romance author Louise Guy. Guy has self-published and worked with Amazon imprint Lake Union, and she has some useful advice to share about becoming a professional writer.
Happy reading (and writing)!
