Definitions
The magazine was first published on 10 June 1921 and the numbering is based on this date.
- Please note: there was no Volume 0. The publication begins with Volume 1 on the first publish date of 10 June 1921 and this first volume ends in April 1922.
- The ‘volume number’ is set to ’97’ for the 97th year of the publication.
- The ‘edition number’ is set to ‘1’ for the first edition in each volume series, and in the series for volume 97, the first edition is published in July 2017, just after the June anniversary date.
- The 98th year begins with edition number 1, published in July 2018 after the anniversary date.
- The ‘issue name’ indicates the quarter of the current year. ‘Issue 1’ is published during the the start of the year.
From 2006 to 2012, the magazine was called ‘Bookseller+Publisher’, which published around 9 editions per year, and the usual issue names were: ‘March’, ‘April’, ‘May’, ‘June/July’, ‘August’, ‘September’, ‘October’, ‘November’, and ‘Summer’.
From 2013 to 2019, the magazine was renamed to ‘Books+Publishing’ and was published quarterly, with issue names ‘Issue 1’, ‘Issue 2’, ‘Issue 3’, and ‘Issue 4’.
In 2020, the magazine is published twice per year as ‘Issue 1’ and ‘Issue 2’. (Read about the change here.)
